Artist Statement
Miguel Rodrigues is a Portuguese contemporary artist whose work draws inspiration from the opulence and grandeur of the Baroque period, named Hyper Baroque by the artist: a mix from Hyper reality and Baroque. By reimagining this flamboyant style through a modern lens, he is creating Hyperbaroque pieces, blending historical motifs with contemporary sensibilities. His artworks are theatrical in nature, reflecting on the hyper-realities of modern society, consumerism, and propaganda. Gold, a recurring element in his work, symbolizes luxury and power, inviting viewers into a world of fantasy and whimsy through its opulent allure.
