Description
Cyanotype and acrylic on paper.
Moving, immigrating, and especially changing countries are very difficult and challenging processes. When I moved from Istanbul to London, some of my works and ideas were left unfinished, and some were blended with new ideas that came up here. My new work from the Stubborn Nature series, Concrete Blossoms, is one of these works. I started working on this by painting the facades in Istanbul, and I continued here by adding the architectural texture and nature of London. Despite the rapid construction and invasion of concrete, London is one of the cities with the most green areas. Tiny branches are ready to sprout from almost every wall crack and sidewalk in London. With the feelings of home, homeland, immigration, settling and acquiring a place; I identify with the tiny branches that try to hold on to life by leaking through these cracks. I want to continue this series for a while longer, which is a witness and document of this process full of struggle and see what comes out.
