Deniz Karakurt Şekerci was born in Denizli. The artist continues her work art in her art studio that is in Antalya.
Education
2004 Akdeniz University, Faculty of Fine Arts, She graduated from the Department of Painting with the first degree.
2007 Akdeniz University, Faculty of Fine Arts, painting master’s degree. She completed her Master’s Degree with her thesis on “figurative interpretations of psychological accumulation and its results in the context of plastic arts as a reaction to introversion”

Artist Statement
This issue forms the basis of her artistic expression in her works in which she expresses ‘gender inequality’. According to the artist; these are the problems that have improved, albeit with small steps, but still continue to be problematic.
In her life as an adult woman, she often travels back to her childhood. During these journeys, memories of the marginalisation of her gender come to her mind. Especially in our country, what does a child feel when they start to realise their gender? What does he/she go through? What does he/she give up? What does he/she lose? What are they forced to do? ….. asks questions like these.
Will these children limit themselves in terms of what they want to do and the dreams they will achieve? Will they live the identities they want? Will they be married off at an early age, will they be subjected to viol
