Description

Cyanotype and acrylic painting on paper, 2024

“In this work, I wanted to capture the tranquil horizon of Chelsea Watersea, where the delicate interplay of plants and architectural silhouettes creates a sense of harmony. The soft blend of natural forms and urban lines reflects the coexistence of nature and human presence in this serene setting. Through this piece, I aimed to evoke a feeling of calm and connection with the evolving landscape.”

Artist Statement

My art delves into humanity’s complex relationship with urban landscapes, capturing cities’ chaos and energy without glorification. I explore the tension between individuality and collective identity in urban spaces, examining our broader relationship with the built environment. I focus on subtle, profound movements transcending individual lifespans, rather than personal stories. Rooted in authenticity, I present ordinary buildings as they are, evoking deeper emotions. While not romanticizing urban environments, my use of color sparks imagination.Growing up in Istanbul shaped my perspective. I exclude human figures, instead representing collective human experience through architecture and transformation. In 2023, I held my first solo exhibition abroad in London, and in 2024, I relocated there to continue my artistic journey.
