Ulviyya Akhundova is an artist, painter, and art curator with a higher professional education. She studied Fine Art at the University of the Arts London and continued her academic path at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, specializing in art business and curatorial practice. Born in Baku in 2000, she has been engaged in art from an early age. At 23, she became a member of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan. She has held three solo exhibitions and participated in exhibitions in London, Rome, Bahrain, Milan, New York, and Berlin. Ulviyya is an active participant in international art projects, including the MAMA COP29 project, where she presented her installation “Tree of Life.” Her practice is influenced by music, cinema, and culture. Her paintings are experimental, combining different artistic directions while maintaining a pop art style.

Education

Ulviyya Akhundova studied Fine Art Painting at the University of the Arts London. She later completed a Master’s degree at Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London, specializing in Art Business and curatorial studies. She studied the structure of the global art market, including galleries, auction houses, art fairs. She studied art valuation and pricing, market analysis, collecting practices, client relations, art law, contracts, provenance, ethics, and due diligence. She also studied curatorial strategy, exhibition development, marketing, branding, and professional practice, gaining practical insight into the commercial, institutional, and cultural systems of the international art world.

Artist Statement

Ulviyya Akhundova’s paintings can be united under one general title, “Comfort Zone,” as the color palette and content convey a sense of pleasant, relaxing lyricism. Nature, cities, and everything that surrounds us are presented in a beautiful whirl of harmony and color, reflecting the artist’s impression of the aesthetic beauty of the space around us.
